I make my lessons interactive and engaging in subject matter; a lesson that is fun to take part in with interesting subject matter will always result in more focus from students, which in turn will accelerate your learning! My lessons nonetheless have a strict focus on achieving specific aims based on exam or other performance criteria. Language is a skill which needs practice, so all lessons include speaking & listening, reading & writing, with time to reflect, correct and improve being of paramount importance. Lessons are usually 1-2 hours, to enable time for assessment, feedback and implementation of feedback. However, I understand that many students have busy schedules, so we can adapt timings to suit you as necessary. I am passionate about Language and Literature, as the former gives you the keys to express yourself fully and the latter is a prism that can help you see the world (or even yourself!) with new eyes. I am committed to education for all students, as not only do I find it personally rewarding to know that I'm helping others, but also I strongly believe that through education we raise understanding and thereby build confidence & agency in young people. I have high standards for my students, reflected by high standards for myself as a teacher. I know that working together with students to find learning methods which work for them is what makes the difference in the student-teacher relationship, and it's that relationship which is the most critical foundation when building towards success.
